AI’s Role in Professional Growth

Cyndy: So Barry, how do you see AI having a positive impact on business professionals? 

Barry: My thinking really revolves around the idea that to the extent that you can increase your productivity as an individual and be a better contributor to your company, you’re more valuable and you can make the company make more money.

Barry: And I really think that if I’m a young professional and look, I’m in my sixties now, so I’m not thinking about how to build my skills or to organize myself to be better prepared for tomorrow’s world. But if I was 30, right now what I’d be doing is I’d be jumping on this AI train fast and hard and really immersing myself in it, because all of the skills that you’re going to be building, they’re all going to be positive in terms of your ability to bring things to your company that are going to increase your productivity, are going to make you more valuable. You add along with other team members, are going to make the company more money and you’re going to be able to get paid more money.”

The AI Marketing and Sales Superman

Barry: That’s the way to think about it. I don’t think about AI as fear, uncertainty and doubt. Think about it, how it’s going to be. It’s going to superpower you, you know, I want to do AI with salespeople. And I have this notion that I call my AI Sales Superman because I really think AI is going to do things to transform salespeople. It’s going to allow salespeople to spend more time selling, and much of the things that they do that it’s not selling, you know, it can be done by AI and can be done with assistance. 

That’s not a bad thing. I mean, by the way, if I’m a salesperson and my joy is actually spending time talking to people and interacting with them and selling, I don’t want to spend my time on that other kind of work. And I know I can make more money if I can spend more time, sort of, as they say, pressing the flesh, which is what we’ll always have to do as humans. Sales will never go away, but we’ll be better. It will be faster and we’ll make more money with AI.
